On March 23rd, 1970 I was on a train going along the north coast of Wales. It was 1 a.m., and the train was overcrowded and stuffy, with people standing. As we neared the North Wales Massif I decided that I would not go down to the carriage end window to admire the view. It would be cold there, and my seat would get taken. I tried again to doze off. The mountains would keep until next time.
Someone or something had other ideas. A force impinged against my forehead. "Go and look at the mountains". I opened my eyes, frowned, and blinked. A woman was standing there, half transparent but very much present. Medium build, full-length light-coloured robe, brown waved hair, deep suntan. Expression gentle and authoritative. "Go and look at the mountains".
I realised I would get no peace if I didn't, so I left my cozy seat and went along to the window. The woman disappeared as I got up, and strangely I forgot about her for several months.
The mountains were magnificent under the full moon. One caught my attention. An ordinary mountain, a shape in the moonlight. I went back to surveying the range. Again I found my eye drawn to that mountain. I wondered why it exerted such a pull on me. Reason told me this was not happening, but in the end I gave in to the power and stared.
The mountain began to show its personality. It was an ancient entity, which surveyed all men. It took hold of my heart, and held it fast, trying to pull me towards it. I wanted to stop the train, and rush to the mountain. If only I could climb it, I would learn the secret of its power. I stared, unable to understand the yearning I felt. The mountain fell behind. Awestruck and cold, I went back to my seat.
In succeeding weeks I thought a lot. I assumed the Magnetised Mountain, as I had begun to call it, was a natural phenomenon: Earth Energies, but on a bigger scale than had met before. I would try to find out if there were others.
In September 1970 I went to Western Austria. I felt sure there was a Magnetised Mountain in the Alps. One morning, I found a quiet place near the hotel, sat down and made my mind still. "Where is the Magnetised Mountain?" Straight away the answer came, "It is to the south-west, sixty miles away" (the location of Mount Madrigerfluh in nearby Switzerland). I stared hopefully, but nearer mountains were in the way. I could not go to the area to investigate. I returned to England, undeterred.
In November my employers sent me on a mountaineering course in Central Scotland. I was sure there must be one of the special Mountains there. Again I found a safe, quiet place, stilled my mind, and asked where the Magnetised Mountain was. "To the north-west, twelve miles away".
This was more hopeful. I looked at the map, and there it was - Ben MacDui! I was excited. My Scottish father, a descendant of Clan Cameron, had regaled us as children with tales of the hauntings that had occurred on Ben MacDhui for centuries. Clearly it was a Magnetised Mountain. Our leader said, no, we could not climb it, as it was outside our designated area. Foiled again.
I could carry on with UFO research though. In December I visited London for a UFO group meeting. I "happened" to get a lift to the hall with my uncle who mentioned The Aetherius Society. When he said it was a "UFO group" I yawned politely. I soon sat bolt upright when he said the words that changed my life: "They go around the world putting magnetic energies into mountains."
That did it. I made my way to Aetherius House, and bought some books. Two of the Mountains I had felt radiating were among the series Charged through Dr. King! And the third had become a Retreat of The Great White Brotherhood after the Charging of nearby Creag-an-leth-Chain! I had really felt those radiations, months before. I moved to Fulham in 1971 to get near to the Society and have been a supporter ever since.
I have often said, "Thanks be to God and to our Founder, Dr. George King, for Carnedd Llywelyn, Mount Madrigerfluh and Ben MacDhui. But especially the wonderful mountain I felt first, Carnedd Llywelyn."
